Lootbound demo download and controller setup

Steam publishes the trial as a separate app named Lootbound Demo. Use the official Lootbound Demo listing on Steam, open it in the Steam client and install it there. A third-party page using “demo,” “mobile APK,” “unlocker” or “code” in its title is not a substitute for the official app.

The full game released on August 14, 2026 as version 1.0, so keep the two entries distinct in your library. Store reviews, achievements, cloud status and files attached to the demo do not automatically describe the launch build.

Controller setup checklist

The demo page does not publish a controller-support category; the full-game Steam page lists Full Controller Support. Treat the following as a device-specific demo check, not official demo certification:

1. Connect or pair the controller before starting the demo.
2. Confirm Steam detects the correct device in controller settings.
3. Start with the default layout rather than importing an unknown community profile.
4. Test D-pad or stick movement in every menu, not only character movement.
5. Verify confirm, cancel, inventory rotation or placement, tooltips and pause.
6. If prompts flicker between keyboard and controller, disconnect unused input devices and restart.

This is a diagnostic sequence, not a claim that every controller model is certified. A full-support store category confirms the intended experience, while firmware, Bluetooth mode and third-party layouts can still affect a particular setup.

The August 21 Secret Update officially says Lootbound now works while minimized or when the window is not active, and it includes resolution fixes. Confirm that on your own windowed or controller setup after updating; this page does not guess a button for the secret animation.

A focused first demo run

The demo is most useful when you answer a few specific questions instead of trying to “finish” it fast:

• Can you read item effects and compare them before committing?
• Can you place and reorganize loot without losing track of aura or adjacency effects?
• Does the controller let you reach every tooltip and inventory action?
• Can you recognize when a tactical choice is safe rather than spending all resources immediately?
• Does performance remain stable in both combat and inventory-heavy screens?

Use the quick-start checklist for the gameplay order and the items and inventory guide for source-backed rules. Record the build date shown by the demo when reporting a bug; “the game is broken” without a build and reproduction path is less useful.

Steam Deck and Linux expectations

The full game lists SteamOS/Linux support, and its store category lists Full Controller Support. Those are encouraging compatibility facts, but they do not equal Valve’s Steam Deck Verified rating. The checked store source does not show that rating.

If you try the demo on a handheld, treat it as a device-specific preview. Check native resolution, font size, controller glyphs, sleep/resume, battery use and inventory navigation. Do not turn one user’s working Proton setting into a universal official configuration.

What the demo cannot confirm

The demo does not establish the final full-game price, final achievement total, save-transfer support, launch performance, complete content scope or future balance. It also does not confirm multiplayer; the current full-game listing is single-player.

For a purchase decision, combine demo experience with the current system requirements and release page. Recheck both at launch rather than relying on a July snapshot.
